Abstract
The paper presents bibliometric analysis of literature on ‘Meteorology’ from 2006 to 2009 as available in the database ISI Web of Science . A total of 1651 articles were collected related to the subject meteorology for the study. Data was analyzed with respect to authorship pattern; chronological distribution; geographical distribution; institutional contribution and channels of communication. The results shows that the highest number of articles were contributed by multiple authors, which is 844 articles i.e. 51.14% of the total articles, the highest number of articles were published during the year 2009 i.e. 461 which constitute 27.92% of the total articles, United States of America has the largest number of publications contributing 626 articles i.e. 37.91% of the total articles.
Among the institutions, NASA ranks first with 61 articles i.e. 17.13% of the total article contributions. The journal ‘Annals Geophysiche’ ranks first with 251 articles i.e. 15.20% and English is the major language of publication with 1618 articles constituting 98% of the total articles. The average collaborative coefficient (C C) is 0.604 and the degree of collaboration(DC) is observed to be 0.890.
